Deletion of the article John Ebnezar

[edit]

It appears that your deletion of the article was in undue haste. I had explained on the talk page of the article (after the deletion tag has been put) that the subject of the article was eminently notable per WP:ANYBIO and that I would try to improve the article which I have been trying to carry out for the past one hour or more. I trust that my Wiki profile and my efforts here will convince you that I am not a careless or paid editor. It is sad that you found a person who has been recognized by a country of 1.4 billion people with three of its major awards does not deserve an article in Wikipedia.--jojo@nthony (talk) 08:18, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

jojo@nthony I'll restore it, but give me a couple of hours to remove the obvious errors in referencing and external links before you start on it again Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:02, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, jojo@nthony I made these edits, I don't think there's anything particularly controversial there, but let me know if you have any queries Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:13, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Mate, it was indeed a nice job. I will check if I can find any further information, supported by reliable sources, I will add them. Thanks jojo@nthony (talk) 13:54, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Almost every single article they've edited has been edited by at least one Claesson sockpuppet in the past and they've recently recreated the page Samuel Claesson. Hi @Jimfbleak, thank you for taking the time to review my entry submission for Gabriel Grosclaude. I indeed used the information on swissfilms.ch as basis for my entry, but added a couple of more information and added sources. Can I rewrite my entry to differentiate it from the swissfilms.ch page? Thank you for your time. Anotherwaytod (talk) 09:14, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on user talk page, COI disclosure request Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:49, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Jimfbleak for your extensive and detailed answer on my talk page. Very much appreciated. My biography about Gabriel Grosclaude complied with listed points: independent verifiable sources (Variety, Hollywood Reporter, ScreenDaily), non-promotional tone, no url links in the article... The short biography was indeed based on already written online text (swissfilms.ch), but with added details. Concerning the nature of my relationship to the subject (COI Issue), Gabriel Grosclaude is a relative of mine. Since he just won the "Best Swiss Newcomer" award at the 77th Locarno Film Festival and got some media coverage, I wanted to use this opportunity to add an article on Wikipedia since he now meets Wikipedia's guidelines for notability. His name is already mentioned in this Wikipedia article: 77th Locarno Film Fesitval. Anotherwaytod (talk) 12:12, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why was Draft:Maffian deleted when it was submitted for review. If it was written as advert, the best option wasn't it to be rejected and tagged as advert so that it can be worked on? Why delete it why still a draft. BigSteeze (talk) 11:03, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

BigSteeze, in this case, if you take out the obvious promo, what's left is basically "this is an EP from a non-notable (no Wikipedia article) musician". Your sources include sites that are not independent verifiable sources, like Spotify and Bellanaija. You also make several claims that your refs don't confirm anyway, such as "received favourable reviews from critics, and topped charts In UK, US, Netherlands". Why isn't the Apple chart sourced to Apple? My judgement was that if this song is notable, it needs rewriting from scratch. Also, if you have a conflict of interest, you must disclose the nature of that COI. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:47, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jimfbleak There are album articles been written without the artist been on Wikipedia like King of the Wolves by Alpha P, which is not an artist on Wikipedia. Maffian EP did debut on US, UK and other countries here [1] which I didn't remember to add the source. Now you shouldn't have deleted the page since it's still a draft and submitted for review, you should have declined it at least and point out the issue so that I could work on it. There is no COI, I'm only working on the article because I think it's notable. BigSteeze (talk) 13:41, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
BigSteeze The fact that other articles have not been deleted doesn't help you, either they met the criteria or should be deleted as well. See What about article x?. Also I think it's notable isn't the same as our music notability criteria. If you think that you can write something that demonstrates why it meets those criteria, with proper refs for all the claims, I'll sandbox the text for you, just let me know Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:49, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jimfbleak You should have declined it, not delete a draft. BigSteeze (talk) 14:05, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jimfbleak If sandbox is the option. I will like continue working on it. I believe that the article is notable. BigSteeze (talk) 14:17, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim I just got a message that says the topic I created is deleted because I'm not neutral. The game I writed topic about has huge fanbase because it is settled on Diriliş:Ertuğrul TV series. It is most popular TV show in Türkiye and also popular in other countries. And if you readed topic you can see I'm absolutely neutral. I didn't say anything good or bad about game. About deleting my Draft:World on the Brink article

[edit]

Hi Jimfbleak,

When I submitted my draft for the book World on the Brink, I was assured that if it was not up to standards, I would receive constructive criticism on how to improve it. Instead, you deleted it, saying it is "just a book review." You may also recall that I originally posted a longer draft article, which you deleted because you thought I have a conflict of interest (I don't). I submitted the shorter version in order to remove anything even approaching an opinion about the book.

I would like to respectfully ask you how I should approach summarizing a book that I read and liked, and that is important to U.S. foreign policy, in such a way that you or others will not delete it. This is my first draft article and I would like to do more, but obviously I don't want them to be deleted. Please teach me.

Deleted contribs

[edit]

I see you first imported my script in User:Jimfbleak/common.js, then reverted and copied the whole script. Was there a problem? The import code should work but you may have to reload a user page with Ctrl+F5 in Windows browsers (not F5 alone). Scripts sometimes have to be updated when something changes and your copy might stop working some day. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:38, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

PrimeHunter, when I imported your script, I saw a message querying the presence of "user" so I assumed that I did something wrong and copied the whole script, which works fine. I'm happy for you to fix what I put, or tell me exactly what I should enter into the common.js. Sorry I've botched this Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:46, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your js can only be edited by you and interface admins, not normal admins like me. I see no reason your current copy should behave differently from [2] which works for me. Where did you see a message querying the presence of "user"? PrimeHunter (talk) 12:59, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
PrimeHunter, I didn't know that editing js was restricted even for admins, but I guess that makes sense. I originally copied what was on the VPT page, but I guess I forgot to stick importScript in front of it, despite every item starting with that. I suppose it's unsurprising that I got an error related to a line starting with "User", rather than what it should be Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:16, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I sometimes post install code when I mention a script but this time I only linked User:PrimeHunter/Deleted contribs.js which has install code in a comment. I could edit user and sitewide js when I became an admin but Wikipedia:Interface administrators was introduced in 2018. PrimeHunter (talk) 14:34, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

About deleting my article "The Repeating Ten-Year Music Cycle"

[edit]

Hi Jimfbleak,

I know you were the last one to delete my article so I'm replying to you directly but hope Jéské Couriano reviews my re-submission . It was after multiple attempts with different editors, that Jéské Couriano told me the following "@Guy Zapoleon: You need to actually cite your sources, sticking to what those published sources explicitly say. The problem isn't a lack of sources, the problem is you aren't citing them and are expecting us (and by extension the readers) to accept what the article says on faith. We do not operate that way. —Jéské Couriano" I've hopefully done so in my latest submission which I'll be posting shortly I'm working hard to make my submission acceptable to Wikipedia and your rules.

Thank you,

Guy Guy Zapoleon (talk) 18:48, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Guy Zapoleon I'll leave it to the reviewers for now, but it has zero chance of acceptance. The whole text has just one bare url reference, to your own article. That's just your theory and there is nothing based on independent verifiable sources that supports your theory, or shows why it meets our notability guidelines. The rest of the text is just a text dump of your own views and opinions (with no wikilinks or references — is it copied from somewhere?) Also you haven't disclosed your obvious conflict of interest. It's also promotional, with totally unsourced claims like This theory has become well known respected and believed in by radio programmers and owners as well as many music label executives since it was first published. I'm sorry to say that you appear not to have looked at any other Wikipedia articles or editing guidance, and have just written what you want, not a recipe for your article surviving. Jéské Couriano gave you good advice which you have ignored Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:38, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Jimfbleak,
I wanted to spell check what I'd written as a word doc then transferred to Wikipedia so yes it is a text dump. And no, everything I have submitted was written by me originally, over time, beginning my 1992 article in Radio & Records. It is not promotional outside of taking credit for something that I've written about and its a 32 year accepted theory in the music and radio industry and published inside the industry and summitting it for public consumption. As far as respected, its been quoted all over the world I gave a few sources in my submission...in Australia and Germany. The verifiable information of the theory is all on the original text I submitted...genre balance, what causes the music cycle to shift etc. Don't know what else you or a reviewer needs to publish? Guy Zapoleon (talk) 15:55, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You said I gave a few sources in my submission... The verifiable information of the theory is all on the original text I submitted but that's simply not true. Your only in-line reference was this: {Cite journal|last=Denver|first=Joel|url=https://www.worldradiohistory.com/Archive-All-Music/Archive-RandR/1990s/1992/RR-1992-10-09.pdf}}. The rest of the text was completely unsourced, basically just your unsupported claims, and self-promoting his theory has become well known respected and believed in by radio programmers and owners as well as many music label executives since it was first published. with absolutely nothing to prove that (if its even provable - has anyone done a survey?). And you still have not declared your COI on your user page as required by our T&Cs. I think it's fair to warn you that another attempt to promote your opinions without real evidence backed up by independent third-party sources will lead to a block Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:25, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Jimfbleak,
If I'm the original source of an observation that music genres change, around every ten years(with me describing those changes and what causes them). Well its an observation once pointed out by me, became obvious to "anyone" in our industry who has seen these changes occur decade after decade in the Billboard Hot 100 music charts, here in the U.S. since the Dawn of Rock & Roll through today. Besides describing the genre changes and the causes in my submission of the Ten Year Music Cycle, I additionally tried to clarify the cycles and phases by showing artists that typify each evolution or devolution of rock pop or R&B through each music cycle, listed here(and in my submission) https://guyzapoleon.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Music-Cycle-by-Phase-2024-Artist-List.pdf.
When Wikipedia published a section on a 20 year fashion cycle ("Fashion forecasting - Wikipedia" "Fashion trends tend to repeat themselves every 20 years" or anything new theory for that matter there were often just an observation that they existed and verified based on observations given by knowledgable people(industry experts) in that particular industry. Similarly to the 20 year fashion cycle the Ten Year Music Cycle has been widely accepted. Whats my proof, it's published in the leading magazines of the Music and Radio industries, Radio & Records, AllAccess.com, Inside Radio, and written about by well known journalist Ben Fong Torres from Rolling Stone in his book and written about in the New York Times by then music editor Neil Strauss https://www.nytimes.com/1996/07/21/arts/pop-view-birth-and-rebirth-on-the-airwaves.html It's referenced many times by other industry professionals over the past 32 years.
If there is anyone I could hire inside Wikipedia to help me I'd be glad to pay for that help?
Failing that I'm not sure what else I can do to convince you or anyone at Wikipedia, that this concept is worthy of publishing.
Thank you for your time,
Guy Guy Zapoleon (talk) 16:52, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Guy Zapoleon I don't know how many ways there are to say this, but Wikipedia will not accept unsourced articles. Basically you are saying stuff, and asking us to take it on trust. On, that basis, I could equally add to the text that the theory is now thought to have no validity amn and ask people to take what I say as gospel too Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:22, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. Guy Zapoleon (talk) 17:11, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There are only factual statements and I am certain these can be backed up by the many publications/articles Corey Ceccarelli is spoken of in. Again deleting the page seems very much like a quick opinion based action than an emotionally intelligent well thought through research based reaction.
Best,
Robyn RobynSomer (talk) 15:55, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
RobynSomer you've missed the point. Opinions, rather than facts, are worthless here, even if you source them. And you have an unusual idea of what a factual statement is when you write just what your opinions of his work were. What we need is real facts with proper independent references to show that he meets the notability criteria. You need to start from scratch, but since you have no connection with him, why not try something easier? Jimfbleak - talk to me? 19:08, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

One Water Deletion

[edit]

Hello Jimfbleak,

Can you help me understand why my One Water LA Plan page was deleted? It was marked as promotional material, however, I don't feel the copy was promoting any organization. I only linked to credible sources which included the city of LA's sanitation website and a link to the lead consultants website, which contains specific information that is not published online anywhere else.

I have no affiliation with the city of LA or any companies on the project. My only intent was to add more information about this project as the current information online is sparce and inaccurate at times.

This project is exciting for the city as California has experienced a number of droughts that have negatively impacted the environment.

Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Subject: Inquiry Regarding Deletion of Thomas D. Bell Jr. Article

[edit]

Hi,

I hope this message finds you well. I recently contributed an article about Thomas D. Bell Jr., but it was deleted within hours and marked as promotional or advertising material. I was surprised by this and wanted to understand the reasoning behind the decision.

Thomas D. Bell Jr. has made significant contributions to both Atlanta and the broader U.S. economy through his leadership roles in companies like Norfolk Southern, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, and the United States Chamber of Commerce under President Obama. He was even named Georgia’s Most Respected Businessman, alongside other notable figures like the leaders of Coca-Cola, Delta, and Home Depot.

One of the most impactful moments of his career was his $40 million donation to Grady Memorial Hospital, which saved Atlanta’s only Level 1 Trauma Center from closing. This action had a profound effect on the city, both in terms of healthcare and its overall infrastructure.

I aimed to document these contributions based on numerous reliable sources, including publicly traded companies and various publications. My intention was not to promote Mr. Bell but to provide a well-rounded account of his impact.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions on how I might revise the article to better align with Wikipedia’s guidelines and ensure it does not come across as promotional. Your feedback would be invaluable in helping me contribute effectively to Wikipedia.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Inquiry Regarding Deletion of Draft: Raghav Khanna

[edit]

Hello,

I hope this message finds you well. I recently contributed an article about Raghav Khanna, an Indian producer, but it was deleted shortly after being submitted. The draft was marked as promotional or advertising material, which came as a surprise to me. I intended to document Mr. Khanna's contributions to the Indian film and entertainment industry, drawing from reliable sources, including interviews, publications, and media coverage.

My goal was not to promote Mr. Khanna but to provide an accurate and well-rounded account of his work and impact on the industry. I believe his achievements are noteworthy and deserve a place on Wikipedia.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how I can revise the article to better adhere to Wikipedia's guidelines and ensure it meets the standards of neutrality and verifiability. Your feedback would be incredibly helpful as I work to contribute more effectively to Wikipedia.
