The result of the move request was: no consensus. Page moving seems to be premature. (closed by non-admin page mover)Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 19:47, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:History of Wikipedia bots → ? – The current title gives a misleading impression that this page is about the history of Wikipedia bots in general, rather than the more specific class of automated content-creating bots. A more specific title, perhaps "Wikipedia:History of content-creation bots" or "Wikipedia:History of automated content creation" would work better. 2601:647:5800:1A1F:5CC:ED1D:EA7E:6AC1 (talk) 18:52, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pointless but certainly feel free to expand the page to cover more of the history. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 19:01, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please alert the main bot pages that this RM is in progress, thanks. The title seems to be a stable name since the page creation in 2002. I'm not a bot creator so will just watch the discussion for now. Randy Kryn (talk) 02:10, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Meh, history of contributions by anonymous drive-by IPs who find obscure project pages that 10-year experienced bot operators never noticed before they distracted us with another annoying low-importance request might be more interesting (I am familiar with the editing of several of those bots). – wbm1058 (talk) 19:30, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move to Wikipedia:History of automated content creation and turn redirect into new, broader page. In this way, this page would become a subtopic of a new, broader history of bots, that would include content creation bots, anti-vandalism bots, messaging bots, maintenance bots, and any other kinds of interesting bots. WP:WPWP could help, as well as the people who maintain the bots newsletter. Let's just expand the existing page. I'lll create some new sections, and will withdraw this move request. The change in scope will require a major change to the structure of the page though. 2601:647:5800:1A1F:4144:3A67:F74D:9F8C (talk) 23:10, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Or you know, just take whatever is already here and expand it. There's zero need for two separate page on the history of bots. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 23:49, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reject The page merits expansion. --The Cunctator (talk) 15:33, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. There is a short article about Wikipedia bots which could be expanded if sufficient reliable sourcing could be found. That might be a better use of time than expanding this project page. I'm vaguely aware that the first bots were unofficial and that the bots policy and requests for approval pages only were developed in response to the possibly controversial activities of the earliest bots. – wbm1058 (talk) 16:56, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Close, premature use of RM. A discussion on scope and ideas should be held prior to a formal RM process. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 05:56, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
