Something about sources of funding for think tanks would also be a useful addition. For example, comparing think tanks with clear sources of funding and those with opaque sources. Transparency campaigners consider that think tank funding sources could be clearer[1]. Are there reliable sources which report which think tanks have clear sources of funding and which are opaque? I'm fairly sure there are organisations which specialise in identifying funding sources which are unclear in relation to lobbying about public policy. Citing Organizations[edit]

Organizations which are listed should be considered to be cited with references to their pages themselves. Several paragraphs have organizations listed and asserted in different categories without any citations. For example, some organization have generic names and are not linked to another wiki article. Internet searching for this organizations yield several results that may or may not be the one referenced. Additionally, claiming an organization is a commercial think tank vs a government think tank; stating it is in the defense sector, etc. is not common knowledge and should be referenced. This is being noted since updated citations efforts were removed. Jackashiya (talk) 16:47, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia doesn't add external links to organizations own websites simply because those organizations are mentioned. The citations added did not actually support anything in the article - they were just a means of adding links. Wikipedia isn't a web directory, we're not concerned with helping internet searchers find a particular group's website. MrOllie (talk) 16:51, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
