So I've sort of become the de-facto caretaker of this page, and there have been multiple comments (such as on the News page) that this article needs major cleaning. If anyone else is watching this talk page, I could really use some tips, as I am still fairly new to Wikipedia.
For the time being, I think a good direction to go would be to restructure the company history to change it from being a mere log of their business history to a more cohesive narrative. I think we can break this into four key sections: the background to the company's formation, their initial business plan and short-term successes, their slow decline, and their recent major decline into bankruptcy. I also propose that we reduce the subsidiaries and brands sections on this page being more simple, and moving the more complex descriptions over to the separate pages for Sears and Kmart. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Specter Koen (talk • contribs) 19:15, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
