An IP address added this new external link. I've never heard of the website, has anyone else? Does it have a good reputation? I think we need to be careful about the links we guide readers too, especially on an article where some readers may be vulnerable (e.g. trying to recover from being scammed or concerned about a possible scam). --Siobhan Hansa 03:08, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not familiar with that particular site, but I see that the final two external links listed for this page, 419baiter and TheScamBaiter, really pertain to advance fee fraud rather than to lottery scams. These two links already appear on the separate page scam baiting. Since they really aren't about lottery scams, should they be deleted here? James R 05:12, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Deleted, along with the hotscams link (again). I suggest we set a particularly high bar for external links on this article - because we really need to be careful about sending people to dodgy websites. -- Siobhan Hansa 16:15, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I work for the America's Most Wanted Safety Center, a new department of America's Most Wanted getting away from the capturing of criminals, and branching out to all aspects of safety. I feel a link to our post about spotting and reporting email scams would be appropriate and mutually beneficial because it would give fed up patrons of Wikipedia the opportunity to see justice served. The link is http://www.amw.com/safety/?p=32 please consider it. Jrosenfe 16:05, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

mix-up in names/numbers

[edit]

"due to a mix-up in some of the names and numbers". I also got many mails with that line, but - nonwithstanding that it is nonsense anyway - I was never able to understand the message. Naturally, the scammers do not want their victim to talk to other people, but what is it that makes that requirement seem reasonable? What (according to them) would be the connection between a mix-up of some or other kind and being required to keep one's alleged winning secret? Can anyone tell me?--80.141.246.46 (talk) 17:35, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
