Change of UND's Colors?[edit]

I was looking at UND's school colors on the Wikipedia page today and had a thought of potentially changing the colors for a few reasons but I'm conflicted so I thought I would see what others have to say.

Please note I will be referencing the official UND Color Guide.

Currently in the wikipedia article we have UND Green and Pink listed as the schools colors but for anyone familiar with UND, the school rarely uses Pink and if they do, it's meant to be maximum of 10% compared to all other colors. Don't get me wrong, UND Green and Pink ARE officially the schools colors and usually I would say that's the end of the conversation but hear me out here. The Color Guide states that "...green, white and black are used as UND's colors." and that Pink is Limited Use.

The Wikipedia page for School colors states that they are "colors chosen... as part of its brand identity, used on building signage, web pages, branded apparel, and the uniforms of sports teams."

UND doesn't use pink on any of those things and even the color guide states that "UND green along with accents of white, gray and black are used to visually represent UND." and that, once again, Pink is Limited Use Only. "Pink... [is] used for specific purposes...[and] may be used for ceremonial purposes and for internal audiences, including current students, faculty, staff and alumni.". It also states that "Touches of pink can be introduced to a new internal audience during a transitional period, defined as Orientation through Homecoming." and goes on to state that External Audiences should see 0% use of pink.

It even mentions when not to use pink which includes "Cannot be used with the intent to be equal to or replace UND Green.". In my opinion making it the only other color on the Wikipedia article puts it equal to UND Green which is against the guide.

Finally, within the 2000's portion of the History of UND's School Colors it states: "...green, white and black are used as UND's colors."

This is the most recent update to the history portion outside of changing what shade of pink is used to represent the University.

Overall I'm conflicted and wanted input. Should UND's wikipedia page state the colors are Green and Pink or should it be changed to Green, White, and Black and maybe have a section discussing the use of pink? Maybe there's more options? TimmyD94 (talk) 18:11, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
