European culture in Carolingian Renaissance

[edit]

Europe as a cultural concept was created by Alcuin of York, an English origin monk who was born and raised in Britain, outside of Carolingian Empire. It was natural for him, not to restrict the territory of European culture to the Carolingian Empire, but determine it as a Catholic civilization. This idea of Alcuin, that Western Christian Europe as the "sole European culture" was challenged with the age of discovery, when Western Europeans created new colonies in the Americas. You can find this in this book "A Handbook of Political Geography", on page 125 .--Pharaph (talk) 19:22, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Israel

[edit]

if Cyprus is going to be included as Europe, then thou must include post 1948 Israel 🇮🇱 as well, given that much of the culture is western or Ashkenazic ✡️ Jewish Which also explains its long time conflict with its more traditional Middle Eastern neighbour's. 2603:8001:5800:A8B8:A800:FAA3:CED:53DF (talk) 19:36, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
