Cite web error because URL contains spaces

Reference number 4 in Michael Horowitz (endocrinologist) (ref name="AO Media note") is reporting an error, and I can't see how to fix it. The error message says "Check |url= value". Clicking on the Help link, the problem seems to be that the URL contains blanks. But the actual URL does contain those blanks - when I paste that URL into a browser it works perfectly. I am no longer married to Sean Ludwick. That is the first thing. I am referred to as Spouse.

Second, my sons are not relevant in this and I do not know why they are mentioned and they were NOT 11 and 13 at time of the accident. They were 8 and 11.

There is hearsay in this entry and not fact, additionally.

I personally removed the 'spouse' thing, so I know it's not currently there. The ages of 11 and 13 are apparently related to Paul Hansen's children, and this seems clear in context. As you've seen, the article was started by an IP address, and they appear to be in NYC, New York. I don't have any more information than what you can see, but I can point out that every edit made by Special:Contributions/2603:7000:2101:AA00::/64 is probably the same user. In my personal experience, given the quantity of edits, if you're looking for some personal knowledge or connection, I'd think it's probably unlikely. Logs

On my commons.js I have a couple of scripts that add links, one I can go directly to a user's deleted contributions (without going through contributions) and another so I can go directly to edit mode of my main sandbox. First time editing - help needed

So basically I'm going to China soon. I'm Vietnamese. We fly in an airline called Lucky Air, a "budget" airline based in China. We will fly to Lijiang from Cat Bi International Airport, located in Haiphong. I checked the destinations and there wasn't Haiphong in the Vietnamese section. Added it but it shows the country is Haiphong. I wanted to add Haiphong into the Vietnamese group but based on my name, I have never edited anything (well, did change one letter from non-capital to capital in a future Singapore metro station since I used to be obssesed with it) so I need help. videos

On the home page after I've told you what I'm searching for, all I see is videos for that search. You are aware that the tabs at the top of the page include "videos". So why are they there? My most frequent searches are for album jackets for logging my cassette tapes. Sometimes, I don't know which album i need, so I use the song and artist for my search. When I do that, I have seen the song and click on it to get the album. But, ,ore often than not, THERE IS NO LISTING OF THE SONG that is not followed by "You Tube". How to get two templates next to each other in info boxes, and not on top

I am seting up a wiki page on Miraheze (Just fictional), where I am using a template within a template: [1]https://dicemanager.miraheze.org/wiki/Purafoin_Warriors My problem is that the match kits (at the bottom of the infobox) are on top on each other and not next to each other. I'm not sure what you mean by "COI draft". The subject already has an article(unless you are writing about a different individual with the same name). Do you mean your draft about his deceased wife Draft:Susan Lukas? I don't see any drafts about Christopher. Thank you. What happened was that I thought I had to start a new COI draft under AFC. I called it "Christopher ("Kit") Lukas to differentiate it from the original (Christopher Lukas) page. @Sakultik My advice would be to approach this in a different way. You are going to get in a mess by having both the "live" article at Christopher Lukas and your overlapping draft at Draft:Christopher "Kit" Lukas. In view of your COI, the recommended way to update the live article is by making edit requests on its Talk Page. Making these in smallish increments (text plus properly cited sources) should be your aim. Uninvolved editors will then review each suggestion and incorporate it or say why it isn't appropriate. Your draft is currently unfit to be an article. The references are insufficient (what is "LUKAS (hsp.org)" or "(Doubleday) 2008 (ISBN 978-0-385-52520-6)"? URLs are needed); the formatting is partially broken, and there are <ref> errors. Those are the things that leap to the eye; there may be more. Cremastra (talk) 21:57, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Sakultik: Since your draft was based on the existing article, deleting that article without deleting your draft would be a violation of the CC BY-SA license that its editors released their contributions under. See Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia § Reusing deleted material. Beyond the legal requirement for attribution, I think it goes against Wikipedia etiquette. Delegated legislation (United Kingdom); mass AFD

On the Law of the United Kingdom page, there is a page containing a sidebox referring to lists of delegated legislation

Scottish statutory instruments
Welsh statutory instruments
Statutory rules of Northern Ireland

Many of these articles don't serve any purpose. They aren't informative and they strictly refer to primary sources.

I would like to propose a mass deletion of these articles.

What information do I need to give to suggest this?

Additionally, I would like to suggest that Statutory rules of Northern Ireland be exempted from this for all years between 1974 and 1998 [inclusive], because they were doing the job of primary legislation in this period.

I would also say that I am only suggesting that ***list*** pages would be included in this grouping of articles to be removed. To that end, these pages would be excluded.

I am not suggesting the deletion of articles about the concept of secondary legislation, only these lists.

Are users allowed to falsely claim they are banned on their userpage if they mark it as a joke?

Hey I was just reaching out because I was wondering policy-wise if users are prevented, if they present it as a joke, from claiming they are banned from Wikipedia on their userpage when they are actually not even blocked. I don't want to post to ANI because I am uncertain specifically on policy justification and I think that is unnecessary escalation at this point.

User:Justcgi explicitly put a ban notice on their userpage saying they were banned indefinitely by both Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation which I removed because they were actually appearing in the Banned Users category due to using official ban templates (the only reason I found out is because they used the wrong template and were appearing in the temporary ban category). I told them not to do that and gave them a warning.

Their userpage has a notice again saying they are banned by the Wikimedia Foundation but it does not use an official ban template and it is clearly marked as humorous now.

I feel like that is still not something that user should be doing because it is confusing, but I don't know of a policy justification for why it's not allowed so I don't know if I can remove that again and escalate to a second level warning. Eh, I was younger than the linked edit would indicate the user is now when I started out 14 years ago and I'd say I was more responsible. I think someone that age might act a little goofier and do things they regret, I know there are quite a few things I did starting out in hindsight I think were cringe now. However, I definitely believe it is still possible to be mature and a strong contributor at that age. So I don't completely think immaturity and youthfulness is an excuse. According to the article, OmGanGanpataye, Bharatiya Jana Sangh lost its separate identity back in 1977. Is this mistaken? But you seem far more interested in altering the spelling of "Mukherjee" in Syama Prasad Mukherjee (incidentally, a Good Article) to "Mookerjee". Doubts regarding using photos from this wiki in another one

Greetings to everyone! Hope you are all having a great day!

Today i come to you with some questions regarding the usage of pictures as mentioned above. My situation is as it follows: i come from the catalan wikipedia and a few months ago i was reading random articles here and came across British U-class submarine, and decided to translate it all. For now i still have plenty of work to do, but i'm managin to keep going except for one thing, the badges. In any article of a sub of that class your wiki displays on the tables the badge of the ship, but i have not been able to use them on my wiki, unlike all the other images that i can use without any problem whatsoever. I asked on my wiki's forum but didn't get an straight answer besides that it's not uploaded to wikimedia but just wikipedia or smth like that, but nothing besides that or how to solve it.

So that's why i came here today, to see if someone here knowledgable in the licenses and wikimedia topic could shed some light onto why i might be coming across this issue and how to solve it, for i'd really like to include those pics on the translations. I'm fully aware that this might not be the right place to ask, for this is not my wiki after all and you might not know how it works (tbh neither do I) or what's causing it there; but any guidance, advice or link to a forum/page/article would be so appreciated.

@Llapis: File:UNIVERSAL badge-1-.jpg is a non-free image so the use is restricted. Wikimedia Commons is a shared file repository for Wikimedia wikis but it doesn't allow non-free files at all. That means the image has to be uploaded separately to each wiki which wants to use it. Wikipedia languages can have different rules for use of non-free images. I don't know Catalan but there is a page at ca:Viquipèdia:Continguts no lliures. You have to work out how to give the required license information in Catalan if you upload it there. You can edit File:UNIVERSAL badge-1-.jpg to see what the English Wikipedia does but Catalan may be different. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:13, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I was watching C-Span Washington Journal this morning (August 30 2024) and at the end of the program they announced that Brian Lamb was retiring from C-Span today if I understood correctly. I found this interesting because I am retiring today as well. I thought perhaps this needs to be verified and updated somehow in the Wikipedia biography of him. Thank you. He's also still doing the Booknotes+ Podcast, so he is still making content for CSPAN even with this "retirement" announcement. But he's had three retirements. He had one in 2012 as CEO, a 2019 retirement where he stopped doing on-air appearances other than the podcast but it sounds like was continuing to doing other work for the company behind the scenes. This 2024 retirement seems like he is now dropping everything else he was still involved in and just focusing on the podcast now. Updating Search result information

Wikipedia and its editors have no control over when search engines update information once they have started indexing pages. However, in my experience, articles here are updated very quickly after a new edit has been made. If I were you, I'd wait 24 hours to see what happens. Incidentally, in your recent edits to Severance, Colorado you removed a citation without explanation other than your edit summary "We are the town of Severance and I am updating this information on behalf of the Town of Severance management." This suggests you have a conflict of interest and are, in Wikipedia's terms, a WP:PAID editor. Hello, I'm currently in the process of replacing the unusual links to the German Wikipedia in the article List of Gothic brick buildings in Germany by interlanguage links using the Template:Interlanguage link (you had to click on "(DE)" in this article). I've already done a good half of the work. However, I've now noticed a lot of "Lua error: too many expensive function calls." in the references section of this article. What happened here? @Cyfal: The page is in Category:Pages with too many expensive parser function calls. A page is only allowed 500 expensive function calls. Each {{ill}} makes an ifexist check for an English article and ifexist is one of the expensive functions. There are 510 {{ill}} on the page. It has to be reduced. There is no way to bypass the limit. There might also be other expensive functions on the page. "Parser profiling data" at the bottom of a preview window shows the total number but may stop counting if 500 is passed. That technically works, but it can be problematic because many who do that tend to WP:PIPE such links as [[:de:Article title|Article title]] which makes it seem as if an English Wikipedia about the link target exists when it doesn't. It also sends readers to a non-English Wikipedia article when they're most likely not expecting it. {{ill}} is problematic in its own ways too: display of non-ASCII glyphs in URLs displayed on hover or long press is browser-dependent, so for languages that don't use the Latin alphabet, readers on some browsers are forced to navigate off the website to the sister project just to retrieve the native name of the linked article.

Naming conventions for churches

Somewhere I am sure I have seen policy/guidance/naming convention proposals on the preferred way to title articles about churches. My memory tells me that the format, St X's Church, Borchester is preferred to Church of St X, Borchester. But I cannot remember where I have seen this. It is also possible I've asked this question previously, in which case apologies. Either way, if anyone could point me in the direction of the relevant documentation, I should be very grateful. Hello, KJP1. I am unaware of any such church specific naming convention. As I see it, the relevant guideline is WP:COMMONNAME. So, take a look at the full range of reliable sources discussing the church and use what most reliable sources use. In your example, I venture to guess that the sources will not use "Borchester" in the way you did, because the reader of the source will detect that in context, if, perhaps, the source is the "Borchester Gazette" if such a publication exists. So, use the name most commonly used by reliable independent sources, and add a disambiguating parenthetical only as needed to distinguish this particular church from other churches with very similar names. The number of St Mary's Church, Xplace runs into the hundreds. Then, when you look at the sources, and our articles, you can find; St Mary's Church, Church of St Mary, Parish Church of St Mary, Priory Church of St Mary, Cathedral Church of St Mary, Church of St Mary & St Michael, Church of St Mary and All Saints... and on and on. First question: are you connected with Bhattacharya? If you are, you should be aware of Wikipedia's advice on editing with a conflict of interest. If, further, you are in any way employed or remunerated in connection with Bhattacharya, then Wikipedia regards you as a paid editor, and you must make the formal declaration explained in that link.

As to the image: it depends on the copyright status of the image you want to add. If the copyright owner (who is usually the photographer, not the subject) has explicitly released the image under a suitable copyleft license such as CC-BY-SA, then you (or anyone) may upload the image to Wikimedia Commons and add it to an article. My talk and user pages on Wikisource (which I don't use, by the way) are being targeted with personal attacks. I know en.wikipedia isn't the place to report this, but can someone direct me to the Wikisource equivalent of WP:AIV? @Voyager88: Your edit [9] used VisualEditor when you tried to add the link. VisualEditor hides the underlying code and only displays the result. And the user doesn't type code like link brackets in VisualEditor but uses its own features to make code. It has a chain icon to add a link but as said above, an external link shouldn't have been added there at all. In case you don't know, external link generally means a link going to another website, not Wikipedia itself. The other items in the list only display internal links in the list itself. Some of them have an allowed external link in a reference but it's displayed in the references section. Guidelines on chemistry solubility?

On the MoS for line equations it merely says "Do not include phase definitions unless they are absolutely essential". Normally, the states of matter as written as, for example, AgCl(s), but on the silver chloride page the precipitate is written as a down arrow for 2 equations and with a subscript for the remaining. Does Wikipedia have a preferred style?

Also, on some pages, like silver phosphate, as well as the main article for solubility product, the solubility product is written with units at the end of it, when it is usually treated as a dimensionless quantity. Is there a preferred style?

Thank you for your attention to detail. Since Wikipedia is edited by thousands of volunteers, all working on what they choose, we often end up with inconsistencies (which some people, such as yourself) want to mitigate.

@SecretSpectre, silver chloride was one of if not the first of the good articles I've reviewed and I learned a lot since then. I don't know how it's preferred to write out the phase but I'm familiar with both

{\ce {(v)}}

and (s) being used to denote a precipitate, and since the reaction in that article is specifically interested in the formation of a precipitate it seemed appropriate. The more modern {{Chem2}} template doesn't seem to support the down arrow so maybe it's been deprecated. These are more questions for the more experienced wikiproject chemistry users. Lower Alveolar Consonants

I was scrolling through the extIPA page and noticed that one of Manners of Articulation was labeled “Alveolar (Lower)” (there is also a Lower Alveolar consonant mentioned in the lists of sounds on the page). However, when I searched the term, there was nothing on it. Does anyone now what it is and how to articulate it?
