Color image

[edit]

It sure would be nice to be able to use this image since it's representative of what the temple looks like today and is in *gasp* color(!). But I couldn't find a way to work it into the article condsidering its (short) length. Anyone else have any creative ideas? Frecklefoot | Talk 15:59, May 27, 2005 (UTC)

That picture is already on the Salt Lake Temple page since it only depicts the temple and not the whole temple square. Nice to hear that you like that picture, I am the one who took it :). BigBen212 19:56, 27 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
What about a picture of Temple Square during Christmas, since that is when many of the tourists arrive (to see the lights)? Sylverdin 22:40, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That would be great, but I don't see one over at Wikimedia Commons. Perhaps Zaui has one he is willing to contribute. --Lethargy 23:38, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I was wondering what the group would think about my adding a link to an on-line tour of temple square to this article. The link is located at http://www.allaboutmormons.com/templesquare.php. I should disclose that I am the creator of the site, which is why I wanted to make sure it was alright with the group before posting the link myself. I hope I've proceeded appropriately, as I'm new to Wikipedia and don't understand all of its policies.

We generally discourage people from adding links to their own sites--it is usually called "spamming" here. But your site looks generally free of ads, so I wouldn't oppose adding it. But wait for others to respond. — Frecklefoot | Talk 22:12, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have any problem with it, but some others might. --Lethargy 22:20, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll wait a little longer to see if more people respond. I should mention that my site is sponsored by a non-profit organization and so is ad-free. Thanks.

It's been a few days since I posted this request and I've only gotten positive responses. I'm going to go ahead and post the link. Please let me know if anyone objects. Thanks.

Temple Square Plot

[edit]

I think it would be worth including this plan view of the square. uriah923(talk) 22:43, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reorganization

[edit]

I think this article needs to be completely reorganized. What does everyone think about the following?

  • Intro
  • History
  • Modern usage
    • Tourism
    • General Conference
    • Lighting
  • Sites
    • Salt Lake Temple
    • South Visitors Center
    • Assembly Hall
    • Salt Lake Tabernacle
    • North Visitors Center
    • Family History Library
    • Deuel Pioneer Log Home
    • Museum of Church History and Art
    • Conference Center
    • Relief Society Building
    • Church Office Building
    • Brigham Young Historic Park
    • Mormon Pioneer Memorial Monument
    • Social Hall Heritage Museum
    • Beehive House
    • Lion House
    • Church Administration Building
    • Joseph Smith Memorial Building
  • See also
  • Notes and references
  • External links

Feel free to expand/modify. If I don't hear anything in a day or so, I'm going to start implementing it. uriah923(talk) 23:04, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think the list of all the sites is a good, if rather extensive, idea. At the present time, I would suggest perhaps consolidating some of the sites into one. Some of them might be placed under subheadings such as: Administration Buildings (for the Church Ofice and Church Administration building), Historic Pioneer Buildings (for the Log Home, and the Lion and Beehive Houese).
Also, what is Wikipedia's policy on including information on a page when there is already a page about that item (for example, the Salt Lake Tabernacle). Should there at least be a small paragraph explaining what it is with the link to the main article included? What do you think? Sylverdin 22:59, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Per Wikipedia styleguide, I think that the table of contents is far too long. I have condensed it quite a bit. I still think we can condense it more without losing any important information. Sylverdin 23:01, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Temple Square, Salt Lake City, 1899 retouched.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on June 9, 2013. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2013-06-09. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. Thanks! — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:36, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
