Streets

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions. Cheers, -Will Beback 10:41, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How many LA streets are you going to add to the Wikipedia? Although you have been doing a good job, my personal opinion is that you've starting to get down to the non-notable and unecessary streets when you created 3rd Street (which should be moved to 3rd Street (Los Angeles, California if it is kept). BlankVerse 09:58, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you look through the Wikipedia Rules and Guidelines, you can find all sorts of guidelines on what is and is not notable, but then those rules are not necessarily followed if an article is sent through the gauntlet at Articles for deletion. I'm not sure what I would use as my criteria for the inclusion of major arterial streets, but from what I've seen of 3rd Street in LA, it is a rather unremarkable avenue.

I just checked, and one street that I would include as notable that is not listed at Category:Streets in Los Angeles, California is Central Avenue. These days it is a rather dismal street, but it used to be the heart of the segregated black community in Los Angeles (sometimes referred to as the West Coast's Harlem). That meant that it was also the heart of the jazz and R&B music scenes in Los Angeles in the '40's and '50's. See:

CD's

Other jazz musicians associated with Central Avenue in LA include Benny Carter, Buddy Collette, Dexter Gordon, Lionel Hampton, Hampton Hawes, Charles Mingus, Johnny Otis, Charlie Parker (briefly) and Gerald Wilson. BlankVerse 06:48, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Doheny Drive

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Doheny Drive, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

the article does not repeat does not indicate the significance of its subject

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Archaeopteryx (talk) 01:38, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Montana Avenue

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Montana Avenue. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Montana Avenue. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:15, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Mandeville Canyon, Los Angeles has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced tag has been there for 10 1/2 years, appears to have no references since its creation 18 years ago, and possibly contains WP:OR.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
