Hoax

[edit]

Apparently, it was all a hoax.

But still possible?

[edit]

I am curious as to which aspect of this story is a hoax. Is the hoax that Bluetooth devices are not even able to do this, or is it that it never really became a widespread thing? If it is still possible to "tooth" then that should be made clear. 172.133.31.233 21:38, 25 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It is possible, see Bluechat. That it was a widespread phenomenon was a hoax. Some folks who were inspired by this tried to do the same with Greenlighting, but only waited four days after starting their hoax forum to reveal it. So, that one never even became a hoax as it was far too obviously fictional. --Habap 15:00, 26 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Now en vogue in Syria, UAE

[edit]

According to the latest PRI Tech Podcast [1], "Bluetoothing" is really used in Syria and UAE for dating purposes and get around a restricting official ethics [2]. This might be added to the article. Peter S. 23:48, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Especially since the link to the new and more credible source isn't working. __meco 12:33, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Similar concept is now real with apps?

[edit]

I think there should be a section that mentions that now apps exist that do the same thing. Like Grindr. 2601:9:740:2F:226:BBFF:FE1D:E31A (talk) 20:53, 8 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
