Thanks for the greeting, and welcome to Wikipedia! =P --Andylkl 17:22, Dec 29, 2004 (UTC)

The usual translation is "in behalf of"; do you have reason to think otherwise? Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 16:06, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

That's OK — I just wondered if you had a new translation that used "on". Where are you studying philosophy, by the way? Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 19:23, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
No reason not to apply — there's a lot of mythology about Oxford and Cambridge, and most of it's either out-dated or was never true in the first place. Open days for Maths and Maths & Philosophy (as well as the sciences in general) are coming up (30 June I think) — you should try to arrange to come one one (hurry, though; some Colleges have already filled up their accommodation). CSD

[edit]

Please take a look at WP:CSD, neither "not notable" nor "dictionary definition" (certainly not that) are quaifications for speedies. Tagging them as creates a lot of work for people who have to around cleaning up after you. --Dmcdevit·t 20:09, August 4, 2005 (UTC)

Sorry not to reply sooner — I've been away for a few days, and I'm only slowly catching up. Yes, I could look at your personal statement; how do you want to get it to me? E-mail would be fine. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 09:10, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I received the e-mail, and have replied. Good luck! --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 17:31, 14 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
No problem; I've forwarded it to your gmail address. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 18:38, 14 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

What team

[edit]

If you do not stop removing Arsenal's victory in the FA Cup your IP WILL be banned. Just because your team is rubbish, it's not Wikipedia's fault =P -sars 17:16, May 21, 2005 (UTC) I ask of you again what team I am not a sport fan?--219.93.174.106 08:03, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My photos

[edit]

Glad you like them. Do you have any particular interest in Whetstone - do you live thereabouts? No, I've never made a particular journey just for photos, though I might make a detour of a few yards. What sort of Wikifun do you engage in? Londoneye 12:21, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. Thanks for your message. Yes, I suppose I go to Whetstone every couple of months. You can probably work out where I live from my contributions! --Londoneye 12:15, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!

London Wikimedia Fundraiser

[edit]

Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.

Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 23:51, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:25, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Liverpool F.C. wiki

[edit]

Hello, I am the lead sysop on the Liverpool F.C. wiki. It is a wiki dedicated solely to Liverpool F.C.. We aim to make the ultimate database for the club we all love. Since adopting the incredibly inactive wiki about a month ago we have greatly increased the article count and modernized it from it's previous state. The problem is there are not many active members on the site and we need more for the site to properly grow. It is well organized and on it's way to be a great site we just need more editors to expand. It is based on Wikia's network of wikis. Like Wikipedia it is free to use and the editing process is exactly the same. If you know how to edit Wikipedia you will know how to edit the Liverpool F.C. wiki. Now for the question you may be asking yourself. Why edit there? Wikipedia has articles on Liverpool. This is true. At the Liverpool wiki it is all about Liverpool. We allow editors to edit anything about Liverpool no matter how trivial. We allow edits on reserve and academy players, and even things as trivial as the fitness coaches for the year 2011. We also do not lock pages to registered users. That means if you have something to say about Steven Gerrard you can click edit and not view source and actually write something. I would love for you to come by and check the wiki out. Feel free to edit any page. Every time you click edit your ARE helping this wiki grow. Thanks for taking the time to read this! http://liverpoolfc.wikia.com/wiki/Liverpool_FC_Wiki --Coffeeclub213 (talk) 01:07, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
