Most of this is not canon. pomegranate 21:54, Aug 28, 2004 (UTC) Who cares? Judgesurreal777 (talk) 04:15, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Canon

[edit]

"The Gorn are highly intelligent reptilians from the Beta Quadrant in the fictional realm of Star Trek. They made first contact with Starfleet at Cestus III when a misunderstanding nearly led to war. The Gorn made their first appearance in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode Arena."

This is ALL that is canon.

...except for that canon the Gorn captain used against Kirk.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.232.220.2 (talk) 23:15, 8 November 2004 (UTC)[reply]

I have reorganized this to indicate that most of it is fanon speculation. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Star Trek for the Wikipedia "rule of thumb" when it comes to dealing with canon and fanon in the Star Trek articles. 23skidoo 05:25, 18 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Attribution

Merged in material from "Gorn Confederation", which now redirects here. bd2412 T 19:44, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I added the entry of the Gorn Portal because out of all the small Gorn websites on the internet, it is the only one with alot of information and attempts at continuality on the web. Lucky Foot - 7/28/06

Fanon speculation

[edit]

I removed the paragraph on "Fanon speculation". Such material has no place in an encyclopedia. --Marcg106 22:08, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Other Appearances

[edit]

In the computer game "Star Trek Elite Force 2", there are a couple of traders who talk about a Gorn hissing and buying stuff. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.81.250.132 (talk) 23:19, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Plagarism

[edit]

Much of the information under "Gorn in the Star Fleet Universe" Appears almost word for word in the Star Fleet Battles game instruction manual. I recommend that htis section be overhauled, perhaps with a description of the general characteristics of their ships. LordShonus (talk) 07:29, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Monty Python

[edit]

what about the usage of the word "gorn" in M.P. ? its a woody word. unlike "tin" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.239.210.117 (talk) 10:44, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure that wasn't "gorm"?Salvar (talk) 19:53, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple issues

[edit]

The Gorn have become one of the most popular hypothetical bioforms to appear on Star Trek, due to the striking design by artist Wah Chang, and the Gorn's memorable personality. A hissing, slow-moving, but lethal beast, the Gorn captain is also shown to be quite cunning and devious; chuckling wickedly to himself as he sets a trap for Kirk, and later promising that if the captain gives himself up, the Gorn will make his death "merciful and quick". "Arena" is also considered one of the series' classic episodes.

I tagged this article as having multiple issues. The quoted paragraph above smacks of original research, puffery, and a tone suitable for an encyclopedia (more like fanfic). Primogen (talk) 22:54, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Gorn Hostility

[edit]

My read on the Star Trek history indicates the initial confrontation in 'Arena' was due to the trouble the Gorn had with the Romulans and how much Humans resemble them.

Can someone comment on that? 68.97.211.246 (talk) 01:35, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 10 September 2021

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: No consensus to move. While that in itself may indicate WP:NOPRIMARY, exactly that was point of contention, with many participants reasonably claiming that the Star Trek race is primary despite relative obscurity. GornGorn (Star Trek) – Currently there is WP:NOPRIMARY with Gorn (video game). A little known fictional alien species cannot be said to be the obvious primary topic. I would then make Gorn into a disambiguation page, also containing Gorn (surname). I am making this a move discussion as it was attempted to be moved in the past but reverted.
