Ok

[edit]

Origin of Ok is Greek. Ola Kala. Used on Container around the 50' in USA meaning that the Container is Ok to be shipped. 82.102.71.238 (talk) 18:17, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If true, then noteworthy. But, accepted origin is English 1830s, near Boston. The word is without question used in many languages today. Stevebroshar (talk) 15:58, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Italian has OK too!

[edit]

Italy also uses Ok in the same exact way as English, but adjective usage is rare. 37.161.198.13 (talk) 10:17, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(Arabic native speaker here). The Arabic writing is both اوك and اوكي. In my communications with others I have seen people mostly use اوك in most contexts, and only اوكي with a similar connotation to "okie". Obviously this differs from country to country but the page should include both mainstream versions. Adhami3310 (talk) 22:33, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've added it, but note that the description of Arabic is marked as lacking a source. I've added it because I think it could help find sources, but anything about Arabic could be removed one day if that never happens. If you know about any published sources describing use of okay (even if the source is in Arabic), you're very welcome to share. --//Replayful (talk | contribs) 08:07, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
