Megatokyo

[edit]

I saw you deleted your comment from the Megatokyo talk page, but I had already written an answer (as I am the one who wrote the passages you critcised, and your criticism is not without merit), so here, for the record, is what I wanted to answer on the talk page:

If that is so, then I would propose the following language:

After a while, artistic differences surfaced between the two creators, and Caston ceded the domain name and his rights to the comic to Gallagher in exchange for a monetary settlement, a development that remains controversial.

But if that is so, then why did Caston write:

After this he approached me and said either I would sell him my ownership of MegaTokyo or he would simply stop doing it entirely, and we'd divide up the company's assets and end it all.

This sounds very much like it was a business. The proposed wording may still be better in light of the uncertainties surrounding the transaction, because it only states what is known for sure. Please let me know what you think.

As for Caston's part in creating the strip, I propose the following wording:

The comic was started on August 14, 2000 as a joint project of Gallagher and his friend (and later business partner) Rodney Caston, with Gallagher drawing the artwork and Caston helping him with scripts and storyline.

Please understand that I want to keep the complexities of the cooperation between Fred and Rodney, the split, and the development leading up to the split out of the opening paragraph. --SKopp 14:32, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)

BTW sorry about deleting that, but it seemed a bit to harsh to me and I hoped no one was already replying. I intend to post it again (in milder tones, hopefully ;)) as soon as I have investigated a bit more in the matter. Moreover when I realied I didn't yet discover Largo's rant: and you're sure right it MEANS business as it is stated there. I'll check a bit as I can and then we'l work on the best possible conclusion =)
(I also agree strongly that the opening paragraph shuld be a neutral as possible and talk of it the little as possible -while citing both of them someway-... some careful wording will be needed)
