Translations

[edit]

Does anyone who can speak Czech want to help with this article? I have tried auto-translating some Czech websites, but the online translators I can find are not particularly good (read: don't work). A decent quality website on Richta seems to be http://www.sds.cz/docs/prectete/eknihy/rri_cnr.htm

I tried using a somwhat-MLA format for the quotation from the text. It is not entirely correct. It would also be nice to know when he stopped being director of the Philosophical Institute. --Culix 23:21, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I would be pleased to help with the article on Radovan Richta. I have just made some minor changes to make it more accurate. I could probably help You with translation from Czech, but my english is not perfect. Richta became a director of a new Institute on December 22, 1969 and stayed in that position probably to 1982 (see [1] and [2]). The reason for establishing the new institute was the "normalization" after Prague spring - Institute for Sociology has been canceled, its employees have been dismissed and the agenda was taken by the new institute over. You may contact me by email [3]. Sincerely, Ivan Ryant, 86.49.29.41 (talk) 03:23, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for the reply! :) And for adding references. I have sent you an email - feel free to post on my talk page if you don't receive it. You may also want to sign up for your own Wikipedia account. --Culix (talk) 04:54, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Info from a primary source

[edit]

A friend of mine had an interview with Dr. Karel Richta, grandson of Radovan, and learned some more information and confirmed some dates of things mentioned in this article. I am not sure how or if this information could be included in the article, as Wikipedia seems to frown on primary sources. But I will see if the interview could be published or if there is some other way we could include it. If anyone has ideas on how to make this happen please let me know. --Culix (talk) 15:41, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Nataša Kálalová, Želmíra Kálalová, and Radovan Richta were arrested in October 1944 and held in the Pankrác prison. In 1945 (in January? [still to confirm]) they were transported to Terezín [Theresienstadt prison of Gestapo]."
  • "Radovan Richta was likely still in Terezín on May 2, 45; on that day, three senior [or older] leaders of Předvoj were executed (Hiršl and 2 others). Around May 4 the Red Cross visited and brought some prisoners out from the Terezín fortress. Our relatives believe the Red Cross probably took Radovan to Bulovka (a large hospital in Prague)"
