[edit]The exact pronunciation of Southwell remains a subject of debate. One view, that used by the BBC and other broadcasters, is that it should be pronounced Suth-ell, while others (mostly located in Southwell and the region) believe that it should be pronounced South-well.
I would disagree slightly on this, from my experience most people in the region pronounce Suth-ell. Though it is true that many of the residents pronounce South-well instead. I also believe that Southwell Minster is nationally know as Suth-ell Minster.
