"Benni's point of view ..... is commonly supposed to suffer from his political views."

Whatever is meant, can't it be expressed more clearly?

S.

I would like to avoid a personal judgement, but I can't avoid noting that his art is heavily conditioned by his political views. Consequently his messages always contain political considerations (in the sense of local national politics - briefly: once pro-PCI, now pro-PDS, once anti-DC, now anti-Berlusconi). It would not perhaps be correct to say he is not an artist, but it would be even less correct to say he is an objective speaker. The fact is that, as a politically engaged intellectual, his art is promoted with more emphasis than perhaps deserved by other "neutral" intellectuals. --G
