MIke Garcia (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)

Mike Garcia (talk · contributions) This user constantly vandalizes the "Judas Priest" article, deleting relevant and accurate information, while adding irrelevant and inaccurate facts, as well as slang and inappropriate language. Please try to reason with this obnoxious and irrational individual. Thank you, Joe I.

  • Out of the article's past 50 edits, going back to Jan. 28, only two are by Mike Garcia, and I can't see how either of them qualifies as vandalism. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 04:13, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Dear Gyrofrog,

I also didn't understand at first how Garcia's name didn't show up. Then I understood that he each time just reverts it to his original version.

What I saw as vandalism was his insisting to use the semi-slang word "hugely" instead of "immensely", as well as deleting essential information, adding inaccurate facts and forcusing on the least important facts. Please compare the current version with his. I'll contact that Danny thoguh, as suggested here.

Thanks,

Joe I (now "www.jpfo.org")

  • Mike isn't a vandal, although he does make some very puzzling edits that in other people might be taken as evidence of bad faith. If you have trouble of this kind with him, please tell User talk:Danny who acts as a kind of mentor to him. --Tony Sidaway|Talk 08:07, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Mike isn't a vandal. However, "Joe" above, or www.jpfo.org, vandalized Mike's user page ([1]), and has personally attacked him several times ([2]). Joe: if you have problems dealing with User:Mike Garcia, talk to User:Danny, and learn to assume good faith; your behavior until now has been much more reprehensible than Mike's. • Dear Phils,

I did indeed "vandalize" Mike's page after he reverted the aforementioned article over 10 times. I tried to email him and posted two messages on his talk page, to no avail. When I finally erased his page and wrote those remarks, he stopped from further vandalizing the article. Please note that he has several such incidents in his history (see his talk page). Furthermore, I don't see how you came to concieve that I have "attacked" him. Just read the two messages I wrote him, and see that there's no attack whatsoever. When I sent him emails I asked him what he was finding fault with, but he never replied. Also note that he was anxious to remove one external link, which is the most comprehensive history of the band and corroborates everything I wrote. Also note that I didn't erase anything Mike wrote - I only slightly adjusted some paragraphs he authoroed and were hard to understand. (clumsy syntax) www.jpfo.org 19:43, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • User "Speedycar" vandalized Masturbation by changing the caption "Male penis being masturbated" under the image of the same to "User:Pacian masturbating". I did upload the image and I did photograph the image, but I have not asserted whether or not the image in question is of myself (nor is it relevant.) It was obviously some sort of personal attack and an act of vandalization. I have corrected it and put a warning on this user page but he/she seems to have done no other edits. I think he/she should be blocked. Pacian 22:26, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • The person in question messaged me back mocking me over it. He/she OBVIOUSLY needs to be blocked immediately. Pacian 22:40, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • While SpeedyCar's edit was indeed borderline vandalism and I can understand it caused you stress, his/her other edits seem fine and he/she didn't try to add the caption back after you reverted his edit, so I'll let him/her get away with a simple warning. I reckon his/her response to your talk page was definetly provocative, and should a similar incident happen again, I'll take stronger measures. You may message me should this be the case, Pacian. • Cheers thanks. In all honesty you and anyone else could post that photograph all across the internet and say it's growing on my forehead for all I care, that's the risk you take when releasing a photo into public domain. But here on wikipedia the information as to the identity of the owner of the penis in the photograph (whether true or false) does not belong. Pacian 19:10, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • DreamGuy i dont know how to get the IP...sorry.

DreamGuy keep removing changing "Detractors and critics believe that they may have poor interpersonal skills when dealing with mainstream individuals or broader society" to "Poor interpersonal skills when dealing with mainstream individuals or broader society" on the Vampire lifestyle page. Theraby remmoving NPOV from that, and then insisting that when i change it to the NPOV version that its my point of view, he wont listen, and wont stop. this has been going on for more then a week, and he ignores the talk page diiscussion that tries to end said debate. i would ask you block this user for bvvandalism, in that he keeps insisting on putting POV material in the Vampire lifestyle page.

Gabrielsimon 07:32, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The above accusation is a highly biased and inaccurate version of what really happened, wouldn't meet the definition of vandalism even if it were true, and is especially ridiculous coming from someone who has been constantly vandalizing my talk page for the past week. DreamGuy 09:22, Apr 27, 2005 (UTC)

the above accusation is accurate, if youll look ath the log in vampire lifesytle, also he accuses me of vandalising his talk page when i wasnt doing that, see past vandalism report pages for the information. as for the accusation, feel free to brwose the logs in the page in question. Gabrielsimon 09:26, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

It's difficult to follow what Gabrielsimon saying, but let's look at Dreamguy's alleged "vandalism" in this diff. The relevant edit by Dreamguy is:
This "species" is variously ascribed a number of identifying characteristics, including . . . . Detractors and critics believe that they may have poorPoor interpersonal skills when dealing with mainstream individuals or broader society
-- in which I've used crossing out and underlining to show Dreamguy's alleged "vandalism". Meanwhile, Gabrielsimon is insistent that this attribute of so-called followers of the vampire lifestyle should either be deleted or preceded by "Detractors and critics believe that they may have". But this longer phrase is ridiculous here: that detractors, critics, and/or anybody believe(s) that something is a characteristic is not a characteristic. Moreover, syntax/semantics aside, it's pleonastic: we've already read that this species is variously (not universally) ascribed various characteristics. Perhaps Gabrielsimon hasn't tried hard enough to read and understand what's written.
As for the question of whether these people do indeed have poor interpersonal skills blah blah, this is a separate issue and one discussed in Talk:Vampire_lifestyle#Settle_the_debate here at too great a length and (on one side) with insufficient coherence for me to want to read. -- Hoary 10:20, 2005 Apr 27 (UTC)
  • Gabrielsimon is insisting DreamGuy is inserting POV and posts some comments on his talk page which have an unfriendly tone. And DreamGuy keeps reverting the article. Neither of it is vandalism as defined by Wikipedia. I suggest you ask an outside view on the issue or go through dispute resolution. Mgm|(talk) 10:35, Apr 27, 2005 (UTC)

My "vandalism" is a reversion I did on History of Japan, actually the one reversion to the one edit I ever did on that page. The sentence had said "U.S. objectives were to transform Japan into a more democratic country that would never again be a military threat; later, in the face of the Cold War and the Korean War, Japan came to be seen as a crucial ally." which I felt was a little POV so I changed it to "U.S. objectives were to ensure that Japan would become an ally and an anti-communist capitalist country." Curps reverted my edit, and I reverted it back because what Curps said made little sense. This is the best example Vozenilek can find for his attempt to call me a vandal. I should note that this wasn't discussed back and forth on that page or elsewhere, he just saw that revert and decided to list me here. Whatever. This is nonsensical and he's already taken up five minutes more of my life than he deserves to. Ruy Lopez 03:08, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I am much more arguing about your style of edits which is POV vandalism by definition. I for example do not like that you started on reverting my changes w/o giving explanation. I for example know something about Prague Spring yet you obviously have formed opinion once forever. Pavel Vozenilek 04:07, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

    • Three article vandalism edits (Belly, Belly (band), Nudity) starting at 21:47, 23 Apr 2005. But then did an edit to Vallejo I assumed incorrectly was vandalism. Then created a page called Asarim about a book that doesn't exist in Amazon.com -- I can't tell if it's vandalism now because user has now posted some apparently correct edits in Vallejo, using a newly created user Isitel account, possibly to continue future vandalism. Asarim appears to be nonsense because originally was created with a nonsense url asarim.com link, which user Isitel removed after seeing me mark page for speedy delete. Created Isitel page at 22:12, 23 Apr 2005 (first Isitel edit of Asarim) and is currently trying to repeatedly remove giveaway nonsense URL on Asarim page now that I marked it for deletion. Isitel then just went to Isitel user page at 22:36, 23 Apr 2005 to remove the nonsense URL "www.isitel.com" which Isitel previously listed on own user page because user knows this gives away vandalism intent because I listed Asarim for deletion. Isitel has since made a couple of correct edits about a town in Spain and historical figure Vallejo, so at this point I leave it to you people to figure this out. Isitel and the IP person claim Asarim was written by "Ed & Marisa Vallejo," about whom nothing exists on the Internet. — Emerman 02:49, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

    • Spamming I think for Tony Blair, created a new page titled Education, education, education, one of Blair's catchphrases and redirected it to Tony Blair. With the help of a more experienced user it has been listed for deletion but I believe this was rather blatant vandalism by the user in order to promote Blair on Google searches. Perhaps there is another explanation but seems like vandalism to me. UDoN't!wAn* 22:49, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The link showing the vandalism

Article says "Last weekend Tony Blair repeated his mantra of "education, education, education".

What? I looked up "education, education, education" thinking there might possibly be an article on it, as it is a very famous slogan. Upon seeing that there was no article, I thought it might conceivably be helpful to someone to be redirected to Tony Blair, the guy who said it. Am I being accused of being a Blair lover? I hate the guy. As prime minister of the world fourth largest economic power, I hardly think Blair needs me to boost his pagerank. Is this a joke listing? — Helpful Dave 23:34, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I saw this and had the same "huh?" reaction. I hardly think this is "blatant vandalism" and creating the redirect makes perfect sense. --MPerel ( talk | contrib) 23:38, Apr 22, 2005 (UTC)

It is certainly not a joke. I note your failure to respond to me directly also. The point is that it is a slogan used by Tony Blair although naturally enough the word "Education" is not synonymous with Blair at all. Blair is currently going through an election and I believe that was the reason for the placement of what amounts to be promotional material for "Helpful Dave's" candidate. The redirection will be deleted, but the user should be admonished if not permanently terminated. I am not satisfied with the explanation proferred by any means. UDoN't!wAn* 00:34, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The excuse offered for the vandalism is obviously inadequate. If it was such a famous slogan, in which the vandal had keen interest then he would have written a brief article about it, instead he did what I see many spammers do and try to trick Google with links and descriptions of links to maximize the amount of traffic they receive. I don't care either way about Blair or his slogan it just saddens me to see "Helpful Dave" misuse Wikipedia's high rankings in Google for his own political ends. It's not what it should be about. UDoN't!wAn* 00:39, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

This isn't vandalism. Isn't even close. Please read Wikipedia:Vandalism: vandalism is "indisputably bad-faith". Feel free to vote to delete the redirect, but please don't accuse others of vandalism when they are clearly acting in good faith. Rhobite 00:49, Apr 23, 2005 (UTC)
Hello, I may misunderstand what vandalism is I looked it up and saw references to spamming and thought yes the chap has definitely indulged in political promotionalism. I must admit I am confused about why you think the offending redirection should be deletion but the offense which caused it should remain unmolested. UDoN't!wAn* 00:57, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)b
I really must emphasize that it is vandalism otherwise you will see an epidemic of "Stronger America" diverting to John Kerry, and every slogan used by a politico and their paid promotionalists cloggging up the Wikipedia in its entirety. And how would that be? Only by cutting out the cancerous tumor now can you be certain the vandalism of this promotional nature be circumvented. UDoN't!wAn* 01:00, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I don't see any reason to delete it, but I'm not going to discourage you from voicing your opinion. Rhobite 01:04, Apr 23, 2005 (UTC)

Vandalizing Wal-Mart articles. -The lorax 15:32, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Apparent breaching experiments (see his User page) using an unusual article as an Internet troll. Previous incarnations of this User, (he helpfully provides a list on his User page) attempt to publish a POV on the scientific method, which are regularly reverted, of course. Ancheta Wis 10:59, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC) Clear trolling behavior; he has just hit my user page. Ancheta Wis 11:28, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC) I quote: "I was a public account and a sockpuppet of banned user Iasson. My account is no longer public, because fellow wikipedians have more sense than I do. Agathocles of Bactria 11:27, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)" 11:33, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I am o sockpupet of Faethon...anyway.... YOU vandalized my homepage first! Your vanadlism (look at the time) and then, as an answer, My vandalism (look at the time too) . So stop complaining to administrators noticeboard, like a chicken! Ageladas 11:59, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
This was another reincarnation of the banned user Iasson/Faethon. These are "public accounts" where the password is the same as the username. The common practice for dealing with these is:
  • log into the account and change the password to something random (also blank the email address if one is provided)
  • make a note on the user and/or talk pages of the account to say that it is no longer public (optionally using the {{sockpuppet|Iasson}} template.
  • using the account, post a note at WP:AN/I:
    • request that Iasson's ban timer is reset (he is banned for 1 year from the date of his most recent contribution - see Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Iasson).
    • Sign the post (~~~~) followed by a note of your account ([[user:MyUser]]).
  • log out of that account and back in as yourself
  • post a note at WP:AN/I immediately below the one you just made to confirm that it was you.
I know this is long winded (it took me about 5 minutes to do that for Agathocles of Bactria), but if you aren't an administrator it is all you can do.
If you want, you can help the community spot new incarnations by looking at user:Thryduulf/Users named after ancient Greeks every so often (instructions are on that page). Thryduulf 11:52, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Another user in this series Agesilaus I (talk · contribs) vandalised my user page. Please can we have an IP ban - this is getting ridiculous (we've had 5 new socks (and counting) today). see WP:AN/I Thryduulf 13:35, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

And I request a 2 days IP bann of user Agesander , as beeing a sockpupet of user Thryduulf. Agesilaus I 13:42, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

No objection to that IP ban, as Agesander and I are not the same person. Thryduulf 14:09, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Of course you are the same person! You admitted that you currently have the password of Agesander! So I am asking a 2 days ban for all the IPs of Agesander (probably you have more than one IPs, noone having a single IP gives it so easily, like you did). Agesilaus I 14:15, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I did change the password of Agesander, but I cannot remember what to. I followed the link to a random page and landed up at the article of someone I'd never heard of. I selected a couple of random words from that article and set that as the password.
I do edit from more than one IP address, because I edit from home and work.
  • My IP address here at work is: 212.137.57.25. My traffic here goes through a proxy server, so it is likely the IP of that machine.
  • The only other address I've edited from recently is my home one, which starts with 80. (I can't remember what it is, but if needed will quote it later when I am at home, likely to be no earlier than 18:30 British Summer Time). This is an IP on Tiscali's UK broadband network, which will be dynamic. However as it is an always-on connection, the IP will have remained the same since it was last disconnected - which I believe would have been when the power got turned off a couple of weeks ago when we were having building work done.
  • Previously I have also edited from the computer society at university, the IP of their (iirc) is 137.44.10.6; my mobile phone (no idea about the IP there); an internet lounge in Newcaslte-upon-Tyne Aiport; and my uncles' house (I don't know what network he is on).
There may be others as well that I can't remember off the top of my head. Thryduulf 15:15, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

if anyone actually reads my talk page, i fail to see any vengefull things in there, nor in the logs of deleted things. As for him, if hed have bothered to READ anything ive been posting hed never havemade this accusation.

go ahead, read the logs for yourself. ive shown no hatred, no malice at all. and yet just a moment ago, he deleted my own self defence, if it should happen again, please revert it to its exiting state, i will not be called things without at least some defence. Gabrielsimon 03:21, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

and nw hes claiming to have offerd a truce, but if you look at my talk page, and that of the other user hes talking aboutm you (and i) have ( or will) find no evidance to support this, even in deleted logs. i grow weary of his head games. i really do. Gabrielsimon 03:43, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I never offered a truce, as I have done nothing that would warrant making a truce. The vandal he has been working with (see User:24.164.211.25/User:Dbraceyrules report below) put a comment on my talk page and this one responded to it as if I wrote it in a feeble attempt to try to come up with something bad to say about my actions. You can see this [[23]] where they conspire to "fail a false report of vandalism" to try to get me into trouble. DreamGuy 04:14, Apr 22, 2005 (UTC)

Repeated vandalism of my talk page with swear words and insults, blanking of vandalism warnings on his talk page (either erasing them or leaving swearwords directed at others), tried to file a false vandalism report on bottom of this page. Continued harassment, in league with User:Gabrielsimon, as seen on their respective talk pages. He already has erased an earlier vandalism report about his behavior on April 20. • Today, this user has made a number of edits to Jerusalem (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and Israel (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). All of these edits have included the removal of valid Arabic, Islamic and Palestinian sections of the articles: for example, the removal of al-Quds as the Arabic name for Jerusalem. This normally would be just POV, but this user is making misleading edit summaries (for example, "remove duplicative statement that is already stated in its own section") to cover these edits. Might be a troll looking for a fight. --Gareth Hughes 19:30, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Sandbox troll

This is one of the weirdest guys I have ever seen. He has some sockpuppets on Wikipedia:

See the Sandbox history for more details

Typical features of this troll include:

  • Strange edit summaries that are quite long
  • Edits nothing but the sandbox
  • User name is strange and often very long
  • Likes to change accounts
  • Does not have a user page, thus his name is "red"
  • KEEPS REVERTING OTHER PEOPLE'S EDITS

I don't know who this guy is, but he is getting very annoying.

-- Stevey7788 04:00, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • As long as he restrains himself to the Sandbox, I don't see this as a particularly significant issue. Better for him to be exercising his "creative" urges in a location specifically designed for that purpose. Firebug 04:38, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Personally, Issues 1,3,5 are not illegal in Wikipedia, since there are many users with good edits but no user page. Issue 6, the Sandbot usually clears out anything in 12 hours, or just other users just come in and either clean up his/her junk or replace it with new stuff. Issues 2 and 4 might of the main concern, though I mainly wish to point out that some users put down over 100kb of text, like DrZoidberg. We also have concerns of people just editing one page, and what I mainly think is that is causing some concern. Issue 4, with the sockpuppets, is that if things get bad enough, we can put on their page that they are a sockpuppet of X user, though as Stevey points out correctly, this user has many names, thus probably an dynamic IP address. I know the Sandbox is one of the most vandalized pages, but we should tread with caution on this one. Zscout370 16:19, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • This is the last straw. Not only is this user up on RfC, another user with no prior history has come out of nowhere to nominate him for administrator status. He will not respond to anything but the most basic concerns despite friendly advice bordering on pleading from not only myself but a number of other users. This latest edit comes from Freddy Got Fingered: There is a scene where Gord wacks the horse's thingy. As he travels the highway, he sees the horse being wacked on and then starts the wacking. His edits are far more disruptive than helpful and I'm beginning to wonder whether or not we're really dealing with a clueless newbie or full-tilt troll. - Lucky 6.9 00:51, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Comment: While I have no direct evidence, I have some suspicions that the parties responsible for his admin nomination as well as a new user who posted a disparaging comment on SamuraiClinton's talk page are all sockpuppets of his. - Lucky 6.9 06:51, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • I share similar suspicions. Can we get a sockpuppet check on User:SamuraiClinton, User:LevelCheck, User:63.173.114.137 and User:SuperDude115 please? -- FP 07:54, Apr 17, 2005 (UTC)
      • LevelCheck/63.173.114.137 seems to be a different person, possibly one who felt like trolling SamuraiClinton. The IP resolves to Atlanta, while SamuraiClinton is in Michigan. On the other hand, SuperDude115 seems to either be SamuraiClinton or an impersonator. --SPUI (talk) 08:53, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • I'll bet you're right. "SuperDude" has suddenly started in on the VfD page, voting to keep Livonia Mall, a Samurai contribution about a mall in...yup, Michigan. I've voiced that opinion on my own vote to delete as a non-notable, generic mall. Also, note SuperDude's writing style in comparison to SamuraiClinton. Heck, even the user names are similar as being portmanteaus of two proper nouns. - Lucky 6.9 09:09, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • User:SuperDude115 is without question the same user. I'd left word on the SamuraiClinton talk page with an offer to tutor him before stumbling on a SuperDude115 non-article called Impulse buying. I'm not sure whether to withdraw my original offer or not. I'm beginning to think a time-out is definitely warranted. - Lucky 6.9 22:49, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • I found this edit on the Adolf Hitler article: [40]. Zzyzx11 | Talk 22:59, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Why does it remind me of this edit: [41] Zzyzx11 | Talk 23:04, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • THAT does it. This idiocy is the icing on the cake for me. He continues to thwart the rules of conduct, he refuses to admit his wrongdoing, he has rejected each and every reasonable offer from a score of other users to end this behavior and now we have...these. No more. It has to end here and now. - Lucky 6.9 02:29, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Comment: There is now a glimmer of hope here. The latest edit by SuperDude115 is an article called Grand Theftendo. This is not only a legit and fascinating project which is attempting to create an 8-bit NES emulator version of "Grand Theft Auto," the initial entry was an excellent stub. - Lucky 6.9 04:34, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Additional comment: It appears we're dealing not with a troll or vandal but with an autistic individual who means well. He admitted to it on my talk page after I carefully speculated to another user that autism was the possible root of the problem. I'm withdrawing the vandalism charge and I hope to see the RfC wrapped up soon as well. - Lucky 6.9 17:35, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

    • They have already been warned here by Gadfium
    • I say: block them.
    • I would agree. I've reverted a few from the top IP, they are sneaky spam links to an admittedly relevant onelittleangel.com page, but the pages I checked were invariably copied from another site (I didn't check whether it was copy vio'd, for example http://www.zenmind.com/bodhidharma.html was copied to onelittleangel.com and then spam-linked to Bodhidharma), and the article had less information than wikipedia's. If it was a better link, then we could always bypass the intermediate spam-site. -Wikibob | Talk 02:06, 2005 Apr 20 (UTC)
